My review of Wine Country, for The Tulsa Voice. Amy Poehler makes her directorial debut in this straight-to-Netflix comedy. She surrounds herself with some of her best friends (and most talented former cast members) from Saturday Night Live, but the script doesn’t match their talents.
A review excerpt:
“For something that should feel personal, Wine Country is clichéd and commodified. Some bits are pulled from their actual trips (a scene of vibrator gags, for one), but they’re shoehorned into a typical plot filled with stock character archetypes (including Poehler’s Leslie Nope-ish Type A organizer) who undergo predictable arcs..”
