EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE Oscar Frontrunner With Producers Guild Win (AWARDS 2022)

Multiverse indie hit EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE wins the Producers Guild Award and becomes the Oscar favorite.

The awards season sweep continues.

One week after the filmmaking duo of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert received top honors at the Directors Guild of America awards, their multiverse indie film hit Everything Everywhere All At Once took the prize from the Producers Guild of America.

That 1-2 punch solidifies EEAAO‘s status as the Best Picture favorite at the 95th Annual Academy Awards, especially considering how the PGA award (a Best Picture equivalent) is a bellwether. 23 of the past 33 Producers Guild winners have gone on to win Best Picture and, more specifically, since 2009 only three PGA winners have not won Best Picture.

The Screen Actors Guild awards will have some say in the matter, especially with EEAAO‘s Ke Huy Quan being a virtual lock for Supporting Actor, but even if Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu and the Cast don’t win their respective SAG awards, it’s hard to see any other movie gaining significant momentum over Everything Everywhere between now and Oscar night.

In other feature film awards, the Producers Guild named Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio the year’s Best Animated Feature, and Navalny as Best Documentary Feature.

Winners were announced during the Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 25, 2023, a little more than two weeks before the Academy Awards will be handed out on Sunday, March 12.
