My review of A Ghost Story, for The Tulsa Voice. This experimental low budget indie is a profound yet tender meditation on death, grief, and time, and the space we come to call home.
“…an extreme counter to more common, heavily wrought tales of loss. (Director David) Lowery gives room for grief to breathe, to be lived in, rather than driven by contrivances or sentimental clichés,” and “by the time it’s all over, you realize that this ghost’s story has…taken you places you weren’t expecting.”
A Ghost Story is a slow, quiet, cosmic movie that will initially test the average film viewer’s patience, but then becomes accessibly mesmerizing.
