Set in the 1990s, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS adds robot animals to the mix of Cybertronian cars and trucks. It opens June 2023.

Transformers just went beast mode.

Just when you thought the Transformers movie franchise was over, a new trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts drops to let you know it’s alive…and well? Quite possibly, given the new twist.

In this prequel, the race of transforming robots expands from the cars and trucks of Autobots and Decepticons to the cyber animals of Maximals and Predacons. There may even be a few Terrorcon monsters mixed in there, too, for all I know.

Bottom line: the Transformers universe just got a whole lot bigger and cooler — even while being set back in the 1990s.

Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) is the new lead human who’s swept up into the galactic battle between these metallic CGI creatures, led by the iconic voice of Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.

Other Transformer voices include Ron Perlman as the ape Optimus Primal, Pete Davidson as Mirage, and Peter Dinklage as the main villain Scourge.

Additional members of the live action ensemble include Michelle Yeoh, Dominique Fishback, and Luna Lauren Velez.

Co-produced by Michael Bay and directed by Steve Caple Jr. (Creed II), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is unleashed upon multiplexes on June 9, 2023.
