Pandora, we see you.

In the new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-awaited sequel to 2009’s Avatar (still the reigning global box office champ with $2.9 billion worldwide), director James Cameron shows off the magical world that is home to the Na’vi, a race of blue humanoid-like species.

Once again, it seems, the Na’vi must defend Pandora against barbaric humans who seek to conquer it for its precious resources (Unobtanium and otherwise).

Set ten years later, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana return as Sully and Neytiri, now married with children. One of those is a daughter named Kiri, a new role for returning Avatar cast member Sigourney Weaver.

Also returning is Stephen Lang as the villain Colonel Miles Quaritch who now has a Na’vi avatar himself.

The most notable addition to the cast is Kate Winslet as Ronal, another key member of the Na’vi clan. Winslet reunites with her Titanic director Cameron for the first time in 25 years.

Others joining the ensemble include Michelle Yeoh, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco and Jemaine Clement.

Avatar: The Way of Water will overtake multiplexes worldwide when it opens this holiday season on December 16, 2022.
