First Look BABYLON Pics Reveal Glitzy Oscar Contender (IMAGES)

Vanity Fair released first look pics for BABYLON, the new star-studded 1920s Hollywood epic from Academy Award winning director Damien Chazelle (LA LA LAND). It opens December 2022.

Director Damien Chazelle returns to la la land.

The Academy Award winning director of La La Land is back in the Oscar race with Babylon, his new Hollywood epic set in the 1920s. Filled with glitz, glamour, and (as the title suggests) a seedy underbelly, it follows an ensemble of characters through the industry’s transition from silent films to talkies.

The star-studded cast includes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, Gemma Chan, Jean Smart, Olivia Wilde, and newcomer Diego Calva who serves as the film’s lead.

Vanity Fair published a set of first look photos (see gallery below) in their exclusive feature story, revealing a lavish spectacle that will transport viewers back to the Tinseltown of 100 years ago.

“Everything is shifting underneath people’s feet,” Chazelle said, “and I became really fascinated by the human cost of disruption at that magnitude, at a time when there was no road map, when everything was just new and wild.”

Mixing fictional characters with real-life industry legends, Babylon — Chazelle’s first feature film since 2018’s First Man — opens in limited release on December 25, 2022, and goes wide on January 6, 2023.
