CRUELLA Trailer Sees Emma Stone Transform (VIDEO/IMAGES)

Oscar-winners Emma Stone and Emma Thompson lead CRUELLA, the live-action origin story of Disney’s iconic villain. It opens May 2021.

There may not be 101 dalmatians, but there are two Emmas.

Emma Stone and Emma Thompson star in Walt Disney Studios’ Cruella, the live-action origin story of the iconic Disney villain.

Un-associated with the 1990s comedies starring Glenn Close in the same role, Emma Stone plays Estella, a young woman with a penchant for mischief who transforms into the black-and-white dalmatian-hunting diva.

Set in 1970s London against the backdrop of the emerging punk rock scene, Emma Thompson co-stars as the Baroness, a rich woman whose elitist cruelty apparently helps push Estella over the edge into her full-blown Cruella persona.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) and co-written by Tony McNamara (The Favourite, the Oscar-winning film in which Emma Stone co-starred), Cruella opens on May 28, 2021.

Currently slated for theaters, Disney Plus may offer Cruella day-and-date on Disney Plus if movie-houses aren’t fully operational by the end of May. If so, expect the streamer to require a $30 Premier Access fee in addition to the regular subscription rate.
