GODZILLA VS KONG Trailer Teases Blockbuster Monster Mash (VIDEO/POSTER)

The $200 million dollar tentpole sequel GODZILLA VS. KONG will debut hit theaters and HBO Max this March.

This looks like fun.

After two Godzilla flicks and one Kong adventure, the Warner Bros. MonsterVerse finally gets the big payoff it’s been building towards with Godzilla vs. Kong.

In terms of box office, the series has underperformed (particularly given the amount of money that’s been invested), but the long-awaited showdown promises a monster mash spectacle of epic — even gonzo — proportions, as this first trailer shows.

Unfortunately for most fans, it won’t be experienced on the big screen that it was made for.

Nevertheless, in a rather savvy move, as most studios have completely abandoned the Spring 2021 landscape with pandemic-driven delays, Warner Bros. actually moved Godzilla vs. Kong up to an earlier date from its summer slot rather than a later one. The late-May entry now slides into late March where, suddenly, it’ll have as much theatrical real estate as it wants demolish.

Even so, most of the screens it devours will be small ones; Godzilla vs. Kong will launch simultaneously on streamer HBO Max.

Co-starring Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Rebecca Hall, Demián Bichir, Brian Tyree Henry, Zhang ZiyiEiza Gonzalezand Lance Reddick, Godzilla vs. Kong opens in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26, 2021.
