Yes, there’s a full scene of the new Wonder Woman movie online.
No, I haven’t watched it yet — and I won’t, until I can see it in IMAX first.
But you and the rest of the world can have at it.
HBO Max has dropped the opening scene to Wonder Woman 1984 online, and it’s an action-flashback sequence (shot on film, in those big IMAX cameras) that shows a young Diana Prince competing in an Olympic-like event in her secret Amazonian homeland of Themyscira.
What’s particularly interesting how this pre-release morsel is that it’s posted online by HBO Max rather than Warner Bros. Studios. It’s just another hard dig at theatrical distribution by parent company WarnerMedia/AT&T, which is now using Wonder Woman 1984 to bolster their streaming service before the movie even opens.
You don’t have to lasso me up to compel me to tell you how I feel about that: I don’t like it, not one bit, and I will be in that IMAX theatre double-masked to see this before I let any small-screen spoil what director Patty Jenkins has wrapped up for me.
Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters (and on HBO Max) on December 25, 2020.
