Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE Gets Big Reveal In First Teaser (VIDEO/IMAGES)

The first extended look at Zack Snyder‘s original vision for Super Friends…er, uh, I mean Justice League is finally here. And guess what: it’s Zack Snyder on steroids.

Whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that by what’s revealed in the first full-length teaser of Snyder’s Cut of Justice League that it will be very different from the 2017 theatrical release that Joss Whedon dramatically reshot and reworked. One of the most telling changes: the Snyder Cut will be four hours long, aired exclusively on HBO Max as four one-hour episodes.

Between the artifice overkill and desaturated washed-out sepia tones so common to Snyder’s singular aesthetic (and markedly bleaker than Whedon’s more vibrant colors), the jury’s still out on whether this is the fulfillment of a brilliant vision or just one big overindulgent mess — but I’m intrigued to find out.

Also interesting, this teaser frames the movie in a 1:33:1 square rather than a widescreen rectangle, and apparently that’s by design as Snyder has expressed his desire to release his version in that ratio. Apparently HBO is onboard with allowing this to be the full Snyder Cut in every respect.

While a specific release date remains a mystery, Zack Snyder’s Justice League will debut on HBO Max in 2021.
