Humphrey Bogart sailed the African Queen, and now Dwayne Johnson is the Amazon King.
Taking inspiration from that Hollywood classic, The Rock and Emily Blunt put a new spin on that Bogie/Hepburn clashing chemistry in Jungle Cruise, Disney’s action-adventure adaptation of the famous theme park ride.
Setting out to discover the magical powers of a legendary healing tree which resides somewhere deep in the Amazon forest, Blunt’s Lily Houghton hires Johnson’s Frank to take her on the treacherous journey down river to find it. Family friendly adventure ensues, with Blunt and Johnson promising to be a great comedic pairing of well-matched opposites.
Co-starring Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti, Jungle Cruise navigates into theaters next summer on July 24, 2020.

From the director of ‘the shallows’ and ‘run all night’ comes… a hybrid of ‘the mummy’(1999) and ‘romancing the stone’. In other words, action-adventure movies set in the past could become cool again. Will Disney be able to re capture the lighting in a bottle that was ‘pirates: curse of the black pearl’? Fingers crossed.
