My review of American Factory, for The Tulsa Voice. The first film from the production company of Barack and Michelle Obama, this Netflix documentary follows the corporate culture clash when a Chinese company reopens a U.S. factory that closed after The Great Recession of 2008, and the exploitation of non-union labor that follows.

A review excerpt:

“Despite initial promises the Chinese corporation would embrace American practices and promote local leadership within the factory’s ranks…those disingenuous intentions fall by the wayside as the plant can’t match the company’s outrageous output demands set by native China’s cheap labor, excessive work hours, and a mindset to never question authority.”
