Just as we are on the cusp of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Twentieth Century Fox (now a Disney subsidiary) releases its latest trailer for Ad Astra, the new brainy, mysterious sci-fi thriller starring Brad Pitt.
The initial teaser laid the groundwork for something ominous, coupled with some daddy issues (Tommy Lee Jones plays Pitt’s astronaut father), and now this second preview doubles down on all of that. The results are both emotional and spectacular.
With this trailer, I’m anticipating Pitt’s performance here more than I am in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, for which he received raves at the Cannes Film Festival. Plus, given the track record of indie director James Gray (The Lost City of Z and The Immigrant, among others), this has quickly become one of my most anticipated films of the year.
Ad Astra opens this fall on September 20, 2019.
