Think of it as Lothlórien or Rivendell but with two-car garages and cul-de-sacs.

In its latest movie — which is an original, not a sequel — Pixar has blended Middle Earth with our earth for the new fantasy adventure Onward.

The film’s first teaser trailer reveals only the basic premise, which is also nutshelled in the brief studio synopsis.

• “Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney•Pixar’s Onward introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there.”

From writer / director Dan Scanlon (Inside Out, Monsters University), it stars the voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as the elf brothers Ian and Barney Lightfoot, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as their mother, along with Octavia Spencer.

Onward opens next spring on March 6, 2020.
