The recent twitter-spree of Joker images and behind-the-scenes footage is no joke.
Director Todd Phillips has been dropping visual teases this week (here and here) from the set of Joker, the new origin film for Batman’s most famous nemesis.
Played by Joaquin Phoenix, the stand-alone non-DCEU film will trace how the Joker came to be, and in a very different way than the toxic bath that Jack Nicholson took in Tim Burton‘s 1989 classic.
In this latest Instagram posting (below), we’re not even sure if it’s Phoenix sitting there in full clown costume (apparently backstage at a theater) or if it’s someone else, but it’s a morsel nonetheless.
The more I see of this unexpected spin on an iconic villain, the more, er, I’m down to clown.
Joker – which will co-star Robert De Niro – opens next year on October 4, 2019.
