Steven Spielberg‘s defining masterpiece and one of the greatest films ever made returns to theaters this December, to mark its 25th anniversary.
Opening originally a mere six months after his more typically-styled blockbuster Jurassic Park (if also masterful, in its own way), Steven Spielberg released Schindler’s List, a film unlike any other that he had made before, not just in style, scope, power, and import, but even atypical to how he traditionally made movies, eschewing storyboards and extensive pre-production to shoot and film from the hip as each moment inspired him. That such a staggering visual and thematic masterwork would result speaks to the true depths from which it came out of Spielberg’s soul.
It also finally brought Spielberg the industry honors he long coveted (and deserved), as the film went on to win 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director of 1993. (You can read my review here.)
Now re-mastered in a 4K digital presentation, Schindler’s List will begin its 25th Anniversary run in theaters on December 7, 2018.
