In the late 1950s, a young man and woman from two different conservative Christian traditions fall in love against the glamorous backdrop of Hollywood. Oh, and they both work for the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes.
That’s the hook for Rules Don’t Apply (see previous trailer and movie images here), the long-gestating passion project for the iconic (and Academy Award-winning) producer/director Warren Beatty, who also co-stars as Hughes in what looks to be a supporting role.
Filmed with the gloss of that bygone era, Lily Collins and Alden Ehrenreich (who’s been cast as the Young Han Solo in that upcoming Star Wars Anthology film) play the star-crossed lovers. Beatty leads the heavyweight all-star supporting cast (listed on the movie poster below).
A date-movie nostalgia piece for adults during the holiday season, this likely Oscar hopeful opens nationwide on November 23, 2016.
