Normally I’m in a rush for December because of the holiday season, but add this movie to the list of reasons to fast-forward the next three months.

Evoking the same tone as the first teaser, this new short trailer for La La Land – the new, original musical from Whiplash director Damien Chazelle and starring Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling – captures a bittersweet, melancholy tone set against a colorful, lush backdrop that recalls the old Hollywood era of when musicals were king.

If the final product makes my heart as full as these two trailers have, we’ll be looking at one of the year’s best.

La La Land opens in limited release on December 2, 2016, before going wide (and up against Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) on December 16. People will be getting a first full look at the film when it premieres at the Venice Film Festival on August 31st.
