I realize that everyone’s geeked this week for the upcoming Team Cap vs. Team Stark blockbuster throwdown, but silly old me is still more excited for Independence Day: Resurgence. Thankfully, 20th Century Fox gave us this little 4-minute morsel to tide us over.

It’s a fake news report titled “The War of 1996” (see below). In it – and its now alternative 2016 – it covers the changes in our planet’s defense readiness systems that have occurred over the past twenty years, since the original alien invasion. (It also serves the role of introducing us to the young, new, multi-ethnic cast members.)
