Ewan McGregor as Jesus, in a fictionalized account of Christ’s 40 days in the desert – when He was tempted by Satan (also played by McGregor).
A provocative concept, to be sure, but if the first trailer for this independent film is any indication, Last Days In The Desert looks to take a sincere look – and not a subversive one – at how this could have gone.
From Colombian director Rodrigo Garcia, Last Days In The Desert premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It’s shot by three-time Academy Award winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who’s coming off his third consecutive Oscar win for The Revenant (which followed Birdman, and Gravity before that).
Last Days In The Desert will open soon: May 13, 2016.
