Once again, Luke Skywalker is nowhere to be seen.
One-sheet character posters have become marketing staples for the biggest Hollywood franchises, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally dropped theirs.
Four of the five – Han Solo, Kylo Ren, Rey, and Finn – show each character brandishing their weapon of choice, while Princess (Queen?) Leia is the only one unarmed, instead looking the confident leader.
As with previous posters and trailers, Skywalker is again conspicuously absent – an omission that director J.J. Abrams told the Associated Press is “no accident”. When asked where Skywalker was and what has happened to him, Abrams responded in his typical cryptic fashion: “These are good questions to be asking. I can’t wait for you to find out the answer.”
And for what it’s worth, there’s no poster for Oscar Isaac‘s Poe Dameron either, which could suggest that he’s a second-tier character behind lead newbies Rey and Finn.
