T’Challa has passed, and a new villain has risen to strike Wakanda at its most vulnerable moment.
That’s the premise teased in the new (and likely last) trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the mega-blockbuster hit that became Marvel’s biggest non-Avengers movie ever (even garnering a Best Picture nomination).
This preview dives a bit deeper into what the original trailer teased, including better looks at and more definition of Namor, the leader of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and new nemesis for Wakanda (played by Aztec-Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta).
The female leadership of Wakanda rallies in the wake of T’Challa’s death and, by the end of this trailer, the new Black Panther is revealed: it’s a woman, but the identity of who’s in the suit remains a mystery. I’ll place my bet on Letitia Wright‘s Shuri, who seems the most likely, but Lupita Nyong’o‘s Nakia is also a contender for the mantle.
Many newcomers — including Dominque Thorne as Riri Williams (a.k.a. Ironheart, a young black woman inspired to follow in the footsteps of Iron Man) — join returning actors Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Martin Freeman, who are reteaming with returning co-writer / director Ryan Coogler.
The wait is almost over: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in theaters worldwide on November 11, 2022.

By all accounts, the new Black Panther is Shuri as per the comics. Anyway, looking forward to this!
