Final TOP GUN: MAVERICK Trailer Hasn’t Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ (VIDEO/PHOTOS)

Tom Cruise returns in the last preview for TOP GUN: MAVERICK. The long-awaited sequel opens May 2022.

The need for speed is finally about to be fulfilled.

In the new trailer for Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise returns as the title character, brought back to the pilot academy to teach at the request of a very interesting character (shown in the trailer).

And not only is Maverick back but so is the smirking swagger that lifelong Tom Cruise fans love but haven’t seen for ages (even decades) as Cruise has aged into more mature roles.

Also highlighted here: new footage of the high-speed real-life flying sequences (the kind that studios like Marvel would do entirely in digital fakery). This promises to be absolutely exhilarating in IMAX and Dolby Atmos cinemas.

Joining Cruise is Miles Teller (who plays Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of Maverick’s deceased co-pilot Goose), Jon HammJennifer Connelly, and Glen Powell.

Also in the cast: Ed Harris (seen in the initial teaser), Monica Barbaro, and The Good Place‘s Manny Jacinto.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (who worked with Cruise on Oblivion and Teller in Only The Brave) and co-written by Mission: Impossible mastermind Christopher McQuarrieTop Gun: Maverick fulfills its mission at long last (its original release date was June 26, 2020) when it opens exclusively in theaters for Memorial Day weekend on May 27, 2022.
