A new behind-the-scenes video shows Steven Spielberg in his element on the set of WEST SIDE STORY. It opens December 10, 2021.
Director Steven Spielberg makes his first appearance and comments in promotional material for West Side Story, his adaptation of the classic Broadway Best Musical winner that went on to win 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture when it first hit the screen in 1961.
Now 60 years later, Spielberg revives it with his first-ever musical feature film.
This new sneak peek takes us on the set with Spielberg and cast with new footage, as well as new clips of scenes involving Ansel Elgort‘s Tony and Rita Moreno‘s Valentina, a Puerto Rican re-imaging of drug store owner Doc, who’s also Tony’s boss and mentor.
Moreno, of course, won her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her turn as Anita in the original movie.
This latest sneak also gives us a solid tease of the Sharks’ musical number “America.”
West Side Story opens exclusively in theaters on December 10, 2021.
