ID4 Director Rocks Earth In Sci-Fi Disaster Flick MOONFALL (VIDEO/IMAGES)

Starring Halle Berry and from director Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY), MOONFALL opens in theaters February 2022.

The name says it all.

In the new sci-fi blockbuster Moonfall, the Moon breaks from its orbit and comes crashing towards Earth on a collision course.

Halle Berry plays an ex-astronaut turned NASA exec that devises a plan to save the planet from cataclysmic destruction, and leads the team to do it. That crew includes a fellow astronaut from her past (Patrick Wilson, The Conjuring) and, naturally, a conspiracy theorist who inevitably has been proven right (Game of ThronesJohn Bradley).

Michael Peña, Wenwen Yu, Doug Davidson, Charlie Plummer, and Donald Sutherland also co-star.

It’s the latest VFX extravaganza from disaster flick auteur Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, 2012) who also dabbles in sci-fi (Stargate). I can’t say I always enjoy what Emmerich has to offer, but I’m always game for it. Populist entertainment home runs like ID4 go a long way in maintaining hope for another eye-popping thrill ride.

Promising a premium popcorn IMAX experience, Moonfall opens exclusively in theaters early next year on February 4, 2022.
