None of the trailers for Ghostbusters: Afterlife have given us a sneak peak at the now-older original crew (except for a brief line of audio from Dan Aykroyd), but now Hasbro finally has with the reveal of its new toy lineup for the legacy sequel. (See image gallery below.)
In one of Hasbro’s promotional photos, action figures for Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Dr. Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Dr. Winston Zeddmore (Ernie Hudson) can be seen posing together, donning their full Ghostbusters apparel – but now with hair that has more salt in the pepper.
Absent, of course, is Dr. Egon Spengler who was played by Harold Ramis. He passed away in 2014.
In two other photos are figures for the new kid Busters, also dressed to fight and trap ghosts: Lucky (Celeste O’Connor), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), Podcast (Logan Kim), and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) who, with her Spengler specs, appears to take after her late scientist grandfather.
In the second photo featuring the young quartet, simpler action figure versions are displayed. Alongside each is a toy for one of the new ghosts appearing in Afterlife.
Other toy photos also include a ghost trap with wheels, its remote control device, and a new Slimer-like ghost named Muncher. There’s also an air gun that shoots Nerf Stay Puft marshmallows and, naturally, an Afterlife-themed Clue board game edition for the film and is characters.
No word yet if there will be action figures for co-stars Carrie Coon or Paul Rudd.
Hasbro’s merchandise line will debut this fall, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife – directed by Jason Reitman (son of Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman) – will open in theaters on November 11, 2021.
