IMAX-Only JURASSIC WORLD 3 Extended Preview Before F9 (FILM NEWS/IMAGES)

The lengthy extended preview of JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION will screen exclusively before F9 in IMAX theaters.

Universal Studios is dangling some major dino bait to get people back into theaters.

When the latest Fast & Furious chapter F9 hits multiplexes on June 25, Universal will unveil an extended preview of Jurassic World: Dominion in front of it — but only in IMAX theaters. (See promo images below, including a feathered dinosaur.)

Promising to be more than just a first trailer, this IMAX exclusive will reportedly depict Dinosaur origins as well as one of the film’s modern-day action sequences (which, given COVID release delays, the film’s digital effects are already close to completion).

Commenting on the extended preview, returning Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow said:

  • Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see dinosaurs in their natural habitat. It may have taken a few decades, but with a little help from ILM, Universal and Amblin, it has finally happened. This preview is just a glimpse of the film we’ve made. It’s an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world next summer…This sequence was made to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Elsewhere, Trevorrow has described Dominion as being “a big globe-hopping adventure” that has “a little bit of Bourne and Bond and a bit of a spy movie thrown into it, too. Spy movie, science thriller, and dinosaurs.”

In an interview with Collider, Trevorrow also says that Dominion won’t follow a traditional screenplay structure. Specifically, in commenting on the return of original Jurassic Park trio Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum and how they will be integrated with the World cast led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Trevorrow said the film will follow “two sets of characters” — the old JP cast and the new JW cast — by “”telling two parallel stories that are just driving closer and closer together, and you understand that, and you start to understand how they’re going to intersect, and then they do.”

That’s a lot to balance, but Trevorrow promises that he won’t be “shortchanging anybody… Laura and Sam and Jeff are just as big a part of the movie as Chris and Bryce are, as far as screen time, as far as their importance to the story, everything.”

Catch the Jurassic World: Dominion preview in IMAX theaters in front of F9 starting on June 25. The latest chapter of the Jurassic saga will hit theaters next summer on June 10, 2022.
