First Look At Leo In Scorsese’s KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON (IMAGE/FILM NEWS)

Apple TV+ released the first photo from their production of Martin Scorsese’s Western epic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The first image released from Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon not only reveals Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character; it may be the first to really show his age.

There are bags under the eyes and wrinkles around the face of the 46-year-old actor, as he sits next to actress Lily Gladstone (Certain Women). They are on the set of Killers, an adaptation of the The Lost City of Z author David Grann‘s acclaimed journo-novel about murders in the oil-rich Osage land of Oklahoma during the 1920s. A true story, the investigation led to the formation of the FBI.

The image, published by Vanity Fair in its first look preview by Anthony Breznican (you can read the short article here; it includes some spoilers), comes roughly a month into the epic production. Currently shooting in Eastern Oklahoma where the events of this gruesome tragedy occurred, it is scheduled to run through July.

Produced by Apple TV+, Killers of the Flower Moon co-stars Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons. The Judas and the Black Messiah actor reunites with Scorsese following a supporting turn alongside De Niro in The Irishman. Here, Plemons is the heroic co-lead, likely sharing the most screen time with DiCaprio’s more conflicted character.

DiCaprio and De Niro are Scorsese’s two most famous muses. Killers of the Flower Moon will mark the sixth collaboration between Leo and the Oscar-winning director; it will be the tenth with De Niro.

Though no release date has been set, it’s likely that the early-20th Century Western will be released sometime in 2022.
