New WONDER WOMAN 1984 IMAX Featurette Teases Scale (VIDEO/IMAGES)

Director Patty Jenkins talks about shooting in IMAX and on film for WONDER WOMAN 1984. It opens in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas Day.

Patty Jenkins is the new Christopher Nolan.

That’s one takeaway (for me at least) when it comes to this new “IMAX: Behind The Frame” featurette for Wonder Woman 1984.

No, she’s not making a time-shifting mindbender with inaudible dialogue but, like Nolan, Jenkins is not only basking in the full potential of shooting blockbuster largess through an IMAX lens, but she’s doing it all on film rather than in digital.

It’s just one more reason to put on a mask (double up if you have to) and seek this out on the biggest screen possible rather than settling for HBO Max (regardless of how good your home theater system is).

Also cool about this latest tease: it’s clear that a segment of Wonder Woman 1984 will be a deep-dive origin flashback into young Diana Prince. The fact that we’re going to be exploring even more of this character is exciting to consider, particularly on this scale.

Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas Day — but you’ve waited this long, so if it takes a few days to find a screening where you feel safe about the audience size, then wait just a little longer to make that happen.
