First Trailer For Oscar Hopeful ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI… (VIDEO/POSTER)

Regina King makes her directorial debut with this powerhouse of historical fiction. It opens in select theaters on Christmas and streams on Amazon Prime January 15, 2021.

Historical fiction that touches on racial frictions, One Night In Miami… dramatizes one fateful night in Florida when four African-American icons met in a hotel room and talked about the never-ending struggle for equality.

Academy Award winning actress Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk, HBO’s Watchmen) makes her feature film directorial debut (following a lot of work for TV) with this screen adaptation of the 2013 stage play by Kemp Powers, who adapted the screenplay.

The four icons are civil right leader Malcom X, NFL great Jim Brown, soul singer Sam Cooke, and boxing legend Cassius Clay (who would later become Muhammed Ali), and they’re played (respectively) by Kingsley Ben Adir (Peaky Blinders), Aldis Hodge (Hidden Figures), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), and Eli Goree (Godzilla (2014)).

After garnering praise and buzz on the fall festival circuit, One Night In Miami… is poised to be an Oscar contender (with Ben-Adir and Goree vying for Lead Actor and Odom Jr. and Hodge taking aim at Supporting) when it opens in select theaters on December 25, 2020 and then on worldwide streamer Amazon Prime January 15, 2021.
