Back with the old, paired up with the new.
Following the news that Michael Keaton‘s Batman would be a “substantial” character in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie The Flash, the first images of what that will look like have been released. Concept art renderings reveal a new, sleeker “electric” suit for Ezra Miller‘s The Flash.
It replaces the more layered, intricate and tactile suit that was seen in Justice League. The upgrade comes from none other than Batman himself — Michael Keaton’s Batman, not Ben Affleck‘s, despite both being announced as having roles in the upcoming Flash movie.
Given that it would seem more likely for Affleck’s Bruce Wayne to produce Barry Allen’s new suit before The Flash crosses dimensions to meet Keaton’s Wayne/Batman in a parallel universe, the fact that Keaton’s character is the one who designs it makes the crossover all-the-more intriguing. It suggests that director Andy Muschietti will posit Keaton’s Batman as a mentor for the young Allen.
But that’s not his only purpose; as the final piece of concept art dramatically shows, Keaton’s Wayne will be suiting up and fighting alongside Allen as well.
The as-yet-to-be-titled The Flash will open two summers from now on June 3, 2022.
