There’s something a little stale about old dudes still trying to party, and it’s something that even William S. Preston Esq. and Theodore Logan can’t quite shake. Nevertheless, when the heart’s in the right place, it’s still worth it to party on.
That’s the vibe of the first official trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, the long-awaited third film in the comedy franchise from the late 80s / early 90s. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves return as Bill & Ted, joined by their teenage daughters (played by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine), as we discover whatever came of that song they were supposed to make that would unite the world and save reality as we know it.
While the trailer only inspires mild interest (with a funny kicker at the end), here’s what should inspire hope: the screenplay is written by original Bill & Ted screenwriters Chris Matheson & Ed Solomon, it’s directed by Galaxy Quest helmer Dean Parisot, and it even brings back William Sadler as the Grim Reaper.
Joining them all is Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), Kristen Schaal, Holland Taylor, Jillian Bell, Anthony Carrigan, Jayma Mays, Erinn Hays, Hal Landon Jr., Amy Stotch, and Beck Bennett.
Not yet scared off by the Coronavirus pandemic, Bill & Ted Face The Music is still scheduled to rock on in theaters on August 21, 2020.
