My review of Brittany Runs A Marathon, for The Tulsa Voice. This “inspired by a true story” dramedy is exactly as its titled: Brittany, an out-of-shape New Yorker, gets serious about her health and sets a goal to run the New York City Marathon. A breakout performance by Jillian Bell drives this movie that has the legitimate power to change lives.

A review excerpt:

“The Audience Award Winner at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Brittany Runs A Marathon beat out other crowd pleasers with layers of human complexity and even ugliness that feel-good movies often avoid…[Jillian] Bell and writer/director Paul Downs Colaizzo have us rooting for Brittany every step of the way, but are also honest enough to dramatize how self-loathing can cause someone to act out in the worst ways and hurt others around them.”
