They’re back. And they’re together again.
Previous promos for Terminator: Dark Fate have teased glimpses of Linda Hamilton‘s Sarach Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s T-800 meeting again, but this final trailer for the reboot-sequel has them finally fighting side-by-side.
Serving as a direct decades-later continuation of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (films 3, 4, and 5 will be completely ignored as if they never happened), the premise for Dark Fate is basically the same as that 1991 game-changer, but with some tweaks: a scrappy young adult (this time, a Latina) who is the future’s lone savior has to be protected by a good Terminator (a female/cyborg hybrid played by Mackenzie Davis) that has been sent back in time to be her guardian against an all-new advanced Terminator model.
And natch, the future of the planet and entire human race is at stake.
To help them secure a hopeful destiny, Sarah Connor is back and as tough as ever, along with an aging T-800. In short: same forumula, new characters, classic heroes.
That’s the mix of Terminator: Dark Fate, and it seems to be the right one, especially with an apparent sense of humor that the non-Hamilton sequels largely lacked (among their many problems).
Produced by James Cameron, directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, and reportedly co-starring T2‘s Edward Furlong as John Connor, Terminator: Dark Fate will be back in theaters on November 1, 2019.
