JOKER Gets Real In Final Trailer (VIDEO/IMAGES)

In Warner Bros.’ big super villain experiment, Joker goes full Scorsese.

Inspired by the legendary director’s films Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy (and, along with them, the anti-hero psychological character studies of the 1970s), director Todd Phillips is taking a more realistic and R-rated approach to DC’s most iconic bad guy.

Anchoring it is deep-Method actor Joaquin Phoenix who, having nearly emaciated his body for the role, is clearly all-in for Arthur Fleck’s descent into madness as The Clown Prince.

Co-starring Robert De Niro, Zazie Beets, Marc Maron, Shea Whigham, Frances Conroy, Bill Camp, Brian Tyree Henry and Glenn Fleshler, Joker opens on October 4, 2019.
