It’s A Smith-Smith Face Off In Latest GEMINI MAN Trailer (VIDEO)

The premise of Gemini Man initially felt a bit too high concept for its own good, and the initial trailer essentially reinforced that feeling; despite being helmed by two-time Oscar winning director Ang Lee (Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain), the first impression that this would be another slick studio fall release but little else.

This latest trailer, however, focuses more on character…or, well, characters, both played by Will Smith. He’s an aging assassin that is hunted down by a genetic clone of his 23-year-old younger self.

Here, along with the high end visual effects being showcased (that were also highlighted in this behind-the-scenes featurette), we get more of the internal, even existential, conflicts of this sci-fi dynamic, especially in the younger clone. In other words, this trailer feels more like an Ang Lee movie, especially as it also includes the manipulations of Clive Owen‘s government agent.

Co-starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong, Gemini Man opens on October 11, 2019.
