The latest James Bond film has seemingly been a mission impossible, but now the first sneak peak of it shows that while 007 may have been down, he’s not out.
The still untitled Bond 25 has been shaken and stirred by numerous setbacks and challenges, most recently an ankle injury suffered on-set by star Daniel Craig that required surgery. Prior to that, the long-in-gestation project saw its high profile Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) exit due to creative differences, and then even some bizarre rumors of new director Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, HBO’s True Detective Season 1) holding up shoot days due to an addiction to…video games?! Oookaaay.
All of those reports instantly disappear, however, as you watch this first look behind-the-scenes production video of Bond 25 filming in Jamaica. It’s everything you’d want, including Bond’s slow-mo swagger. Craig, along with co-stars Jeffrey Wright and Lashana Lynch, even looks like he’s having enough fun to not want to slash his wrists.
The franchise usually plays as a summer or holiday release, but the next (and reportedly last Craig) Bond film — with a cast that also includes Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Ana De Armas, Billy Magnussen, and Bohemian Rhapsody Best Actor winner Rami Malek as the villain — will open next spring on April 6, 2020.
