Latest SPIDER-MAN Trailer Kicks Off With Major ENDGAME Spoiler (VIDEO/IMAGES)

Once you get past the MAJOR SPOILER, there’s a fun new Spider-Man movie in store in this latest trailer. Also: a better look at Jake Gyllenhaal‘s Mysterio.

Spider-Man: Far From Home picks up directly where Avengers: Endgame left off, which means the beginning of this film — and this trailer — spoils that movie’s ending. If you still haven’t seen Endgame, don’t watch this promo until you have.

Suffice it to say, it infuses Far From Home with real meaning and heart. But, like Spider-Man: Homecoming (a Top 3 MCU favorite for me), Far From Home looks to be driven by a great sense of humor, one that isn’t merely joke-y but character-based, fully capturing the spirit of the Spidey’s playful snark from the comics (in a much better way than previous incarnations have). Helmed by returning Homecoming director Jon Watts, it also boasts great action. Tom Holland is the ideal Spider-Man, too.

When Parker goes on a summer European trip with his high school friends (including Parker’s crush Michelle Jones, a.k.a. MJ, played by Zendaya), danger calls. Naturally, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) calls along with it. He introduces Parker to a new mentor figure, Quentin Beck, who suits up as Mysterio.

Given Beck’s iconic place as a super-villain in the Marvel canon, however, it’s safe to assume that there’s more to Mysterio than meets the eye; our eyes get more of Mysterio’s costume in this lastest trailer, too. It also looks like Jon Favreau‘s Happy Hogan is going to be a big comic highlight as well.

Originally slated to open after the 4th of July holiday, Spider-Man: Far From Home will now set off box office fireworks when it swings into theaters on July 2, 2019.
