The trailer may start with a song by The Human League, but the movie is all about The Boss. Well, his music anyway.
The hot ticket sensation of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival was Blinded By The Light, the latest film from Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha. Her film, inspired by a true story, is about a young Brit-Indian in the 1980s who, despite his ethnic heritage and transatlantic divide from the Jersey shore, finds a soulful connection with the music of Bruce Springsteen. (The Boss generously granted licensing permission to his iconic catalogue for the low-budget passion project.)
In this first trailer, it’s very easy to see how this exhuberant celebration of life (and surefire crowd-pleaser) captured so many hearts on the festival circuit.
Steered predominantly by a British-Indian cast of unknowns, Blinded By The Light will be born in the USA when it’s released on August 14, 2019.
