I’ll be back…with facial hair.
Old things are made new in the first look photos from Terminator: Dark Fate, the latest Terminator reboot starring Arnold Schwarzenegger that’s attempting to revive the once-popular franchise. Having drifted since James Cameron passed the narrative on to other creatives, Cameron’s back as producer. Director Tim Miller (Deadpool) is now at the helm, and he promises to bring an indie sensibility to the project (whatever that actually means).
Working as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, this sixth Terminator film will ignore the events of the third, fourth, and fifth installments as if they never happened. That’s a pretty big liberty to take but also probably the right one, especially since this is the first to have Linda Hamilton back in the iconic role of Sarah Connor. (Schwarzenegger and Hamilton had previously teased their long-awaited reunion in this Instagram re-creation photo last fall.)
The female-fronted sci-fi actioner co-stars Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes (previously pictured in this first official photo from last fall) who help in the fight against the latest Terminator incarnation, played by Gabriel Luna, in a as-yet-to-be-defined make and model. Diego Boneta also co-stars in a script co-written by Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer.
Plot details are still under wraps, and no word yet on when to expect the first trailer.
Terminator: Dark Fate will help kick off the holiday movie season when it opens on November 1, 2019.
