“Indiana Jones for kids” meets “Nickelodeon school comedy”. That’s basically the mash-up for the first live-action adaptation of the popular kids animated series Dora The Explorer.
Starring Isabela Moner (the lone standout from Transformers: The Last Knight) in the title role, Dora and the Lost City of Gold takes Dora, her parents (played by Eva Longoria and Michael Peña), her cousin Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), and a few of her new high school friends on a jungle adventure for the whole family.
And yes, a CGI version of Boots the monkey is along for the ride, too (voiced by Danny Trejo, of all people).
Directed by James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass), Dora and the Lost City of Gold swings into theaters this summer on August 2, 2019.
