Oscar Nominated Short About NYC Nazi Event – 80 Years Ago Today (VIDEO)

Field of Vision – A Night at the Garden from Field of Vision on Vimeo.

February 20, 1939. Eighty years ago. A banner of George Washington, flanked by swastikas. In America.

As Hitler’s Third Reich amassed its power, 20,000 Nazi sympathizers packed into Madison Square Garden in New York City to champion their fascist creeds for the United States.

Nominated for Best Documentary Short Subject at this year’s Academy Awards, A Night at the Garden is a 7-minute short film that culls archival footage from the still-shocking event. You can watch the full film above.

The Academy Awards are this Sunday night, February 24, on ABC.
