It’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood – literally. That’s the offiical title of the Mr. Rogers movie starring Tom Hanks as the beloved PBS children’s show host.
Below is the first official photo from the film, from the movie’s Twitter page. It follows a behind the scenes image of Hanks as Rogers, sitting on the doorway steps of his actor’s trailer.
Currently in production, A Beautiful Day is about the special relationship that forms between Rogers and the cynical, jaded journalist Tom Junod (fictionalized here as Lloyd Vogel, played by Matthew Rhys, star of FX’s The Americans). It’s directed by Marielle Heller, whose Can You Ever Forgive Me? is currently nominated for three Academy Awards.
A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood — also co-starring Academy Award winner Chris Cooper — will be an awards contender of its own when it opens nationwide this Thanksgiving, on November 22, 2018.
