If this first teaser is any indication, the Elton John biopic won’t go breaking our hearts.

In fact, if I had to pick between which two upcoming 70s/80s era pop-rock movies looks better – Rocketman or Bohemian Rhapsody – it’s this tiny dancer, by a long shot.

The trailers for the Queen / Freddie Mercury flick are a slick version of exactly what you’d expect, and may even pull punches. This one, however, actually takes liberties into magical realism, befitting its icon and promising a more mesmerizing cinematic experience.

It’s still going to be a long long time before we see it, though. Rocketman — starring Taron Egerton as Elton John, Jamie Bell as lyricist Bernie Taupin, along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Gemma Jones, and Richard Madden — is slated to open next summer on May 17, 2019.
