My review of The Wife, for The Tulsa Voice. Glenn Close gives a “screen-acting masterclass” in one of the best performances of her legendary career.

She plays Joan, the wife of a famous author (Jonathan Pryce) who’s about to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, but her “repressed sacrifices…finally rise to the surface.” Long taken for granted, “Joan can no longer play the role of dutiful spouse.”

Often without words, Close “communicates the full emotional weight and psychosomatic damage of an entire personal history” in an Oscar-worthy performance.
