My review of BlacKkKlansman, for The Tulsa Voice. It’s based on the true story of an African-American undercover cop who, along with his partner, infiltrated the Colorado Springs chapter of the KKK in 1978.
As with his best work, director Spike Lee “wields satire and rage with equal force,” using this forty-year-old story to make an “impassioned commentary on the current state of America” with a “prophetic vitality that his films haven’t boasted in more than 20 years.”
