Unbreakable is a pop cinema masterpiece. Split isn’t, but it was an exhilarating return-to-form for M. Night Shyamalan after one of the most spectacular rises-and-falls in movie history.
Now, after the twist in Split revealed that Night had brought us back into the Unbreakable-verse, he completes the trilogy with Glass, named after Samuel L. Jackson‘s supporting character from the original Bruce Willis superhero origin story. (Think of it as a Marvel movie taken seriously, or how something like a superhero origin would actually go down if it happened in real life).
The first trailer for Glass is finally here, which makes it unfortunate that the movie isn’t. We’ll have to wait another six months for that.
Starring Jackson, Willis, James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sarah Paulson, Glass opens on January 18, 2019.
