My review of Foxtrot, for The Tulsa Voice. A recent Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign-Language Feature, this powerful Israel film explores a tragedy sparked by the ongoing Israel/Palestinian conflict.
It’s the story of parents who learn of the death of their Israeli soldier son and, ultimately, the truth behind it. Powerfully rendered, the film is marked by “soul-baring performances of heartbreaking anguish” that “intensify a true mastery of cinematic craft”.
If this were made by a well-known director with famous actors, Foxtrot would “dominate an awards season all the way through Oscar night.”
