Here’s the sequel to Terrence Malick‘s To the Wonder that we never knew we needed. Kind of.
Thy Kingdom Come is a 43-minute short film premiering this March at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX. Directed by Euguene Richards, a photojournalist for The New Yorker, it utilizes bonus footage that Malick tasked Richards to shoot during the 2012 production that was filmed in Bartlesville, OK.
It centers around the priest from To the Wonder, played by Javier Bardem, as he talks with real-life local residents about their struggles. They open up in unexpected ways.
No release platform has been announced (like, say, Netflix or HBO), but hopefully that news will come with its SXSW debut. You can read more about Thy Kingdom Come in this profile from The New Yorker.

(You can rent Malick’s feature film about a struggling marriage, starring Ben Affleck, on Amazon Video or buy it for under $10 on Blu-ray or DVD. You can also stream it on Netflix.)
