For the Oscar nerds out there, here are my predictions of who and what the Academy will nominate on Tuesday morning for their 90th Annual Awards – in all categories but three (Live Action Short, Animated Short, and Documentary Short).
For the Best Picture category, the Academy rules state that there can be “up to 10” nominees, but 10 are not guaranteed. I’m going to guess 10 anyway, just to cover the bases.
The nomination announcements will be begin Tuesday morning, January 23, at 8:20 AM EST / 7:20 AM CST / 5:20 AM PT. They will stream live on the official Oscars website, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, and in part on ABC’s Good Morning America.
The total guesses are 108 nominations across 21 categories.
UPDATE: Final Tally
I got 86 correct out of 108, and 22 incorrect. I went 5-for-5 in six categories (Actress, Supporting Actor, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound Mixing, and Sound Editing) and 4-for-5 in seven other categories.
The predicted leading contenders are:
The Shape of Water – 14
Dunkirk – 8
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri – 7
Lady Bird – 5
Darkest Hour – 5
Get Out – 4
Call Me By Your Name – 4
The Post – 4
